Animated Infographics:

Communicate your strategy in a visual way

Do you need your audience to ‘get it’ quickly? Whether you’re presenting a strategy, sharing impact or engaging stakeholders, an animated infographic can do a lot of the heavy lifting for you.

Last year, I was commissioned by Rother Voluntary Action (RVA) to create a piece that showcased their strategic work in an accessible and engaging way.

Why animated Infographics are more effective than static reports

RVA wanted a way to share their vision for supporting the voluntary sector in Rother with funders, partners, community leaders and volunteers. Static reports and documents often struggle to:

  • Hold attention

  • Convey complex information clearly

  • Show the bigger picture

Animation, on the other hand, adds pace, rhythm and narrative flow. A well-crafted animated infographic can:

  • Translate complex plans into visual stories

  • Highlight key points without overwhelming the viewer

  • Engage stakeholders across channels

How we created RVA’s Animated Infographic

Creating a compelling animated infographic starts with understanding the story you want to tell. For RVA, this involved:

Distilling strategy - RVA’s extensive evaluation data and frontline experience helped identify priorities and challenges.

Visual storytelling - We transformed insights into a clear, engaging visual journey using dynamic illustrations and recognisable symbols and motifs to show RVA’s impact and approach.

The result is an animated infographic that communicates RVA’s strategy and demonstrates how they respond to community needs in an engaging, approachable way.

Benefits of using Animated Infographics

An animated infographic is a visually striking and powerful communication tool. RVA’s animation shows how organisations can:

  • Build alignment across diverse groups

  • Communicate impact confidently

  • Make complex strategies easy to understand

  • Engage stakeholders, attract funders and celebrate community achievements

By combining visual storytelling with animation, organisations can bridge the gap between strategy and action, helping everyone understand the journey and outcomes clearly.

Why Animation works:

Animation allows you to:

  • Embed a sense of place, community, and connection

  • Bring a human touch to your message

  • Translate quantitative and qualitative data into visuals

  • Highlight progression and change over time

For RVA, this meant creating a tool that could be shared across presentations, social media, and reports, showing their impact and building trust with partners and the local voluntary sector.

What RVA had to say:

“We wanted a dynamic visual way to bring to life the insights we've gained and progress we've made on our 5 year project to support volunteering in Rother, funded by the National Lottery Communities Fund. Working with Esther was uplifting, fun, challenging and rewarding. It's so enjoyable and satisfying seeing the process visualised. I'd heartily recommend working with Esther”

- Naomi Robinson, Volunteer Hub Project Lead, Rother Voluntary Action
